Each day at Metropolis Events we are lucky enough to meet some of the most incredible couples. Once we do, our favourite thing to do is to ask how they met and their proposal story. We have heard them all, some romantic, some funny, and some that didn’t quite go as planned… but here are our favourites from our Metropolis couples of 2021.
Daniel & Bree Rametta
“I met Daniel through my friend Chanel in Year 7. Daniel was her brother and I told her I would marry him one day, even though I was 12 and he was 19!
We were in Fiji for Daniel’s mum, Angela’s, 60th birthday. I was told we were going out for dinner to celebrate her birthday. While I was getting ready, Daniel and his brother were running around the resort (Sofitel) placing envelopes in different spots, setting up a scavenger hunt of our relationship. I went to the reception with his sister and was given an envelope. There were 10 envelopes I had to make my way through. The last one was given to me by his brother. I was then blindfolded by two Fijian’s and walked along the beach to a beautiful gazebo overlooking the water. Daniel was waiting there with a guitar. He had learnt the song – Shallow from A Star is Born (one of our favourite movies) and sang the start of the song to me, changing some of the words to then asking me a question. He then got down on one knee and proposed, it was beautiful!”
Alex & Charbel Abi-Ishac
“On our five-year wedding anniversary, we organized a special dinner in Paris on the Eiffel Tower. After dinner, whilst enjoying the beautiful scenic views, he got down on one knee!”
Aaron & Isabella Gomez
“We met when we were 5 and 6 years old as family friends. We started dating in high school when we were 16! Childhood sweethearts and the rest is history!
I work at a primary school as a Speech Pathologist. We had our end of year concert with over 600 students and families. At the end of the staff dance segment, Aaron walked on stage out of nowhere and dropped on one knee to propose. The students and crowd went wild! My youngest students still think I’m ‘the lady that got married at school’.”
Marina & Carl Magri
“Carl and I decided to do a “homeland” trip to Egypt and Malta in Aug/Sep 2019. First we spent 3 weeks in Egypt (where my family are from), followed by 1 week in Malta (where Carl’s family is from). As the trip overlapped with both of our birthdays, we made sure to book something fun to celebrate. For Carl’s birthday, I booked a private sunset charter around Malta. We enjoyed a beautiful sail around Malta with a 3-course dinner cooked by our lovely captain’s wife. As the sun began to set, Carl took me to the front of the boat and got down on one knee!”
