Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of the year here in Melbourne. There is so much to love about this season, whether it be the changing of the leaves, the breath-taking scenery or the crisp air, combine all of that and you truly have the perfect atmosphere for a wedding.
Our Metropolis couple, Nicholas and Brooke, hosted their beautiful autumn wedding with us on May 16th 2021. The newlyweds met at just 13 years old and have been together since 2009, we love a good high school sweet heart story.
There were countless aspects of Nicholas and Brookes special day that got us thinking that perhaps, Autumn might just be the perfect wedding season… and here’s why!
It’s colour palette
It goes without saying that the best part of autumn is the gorgeous array of natural colours. The warm russet tones mixed with burgundy, vibrant reds, yellows and soft olive greens really do make for a stunning wedding palette. It is refreshing to envision a colour palette that strays from the traditional blush pink and white roses and just accentuate the beautiful season.
We know spring and summer weddings are the most popular choices in terms of weather, but have you ever considered autumn weather where the days are dry with a touch of sun warmth that flow into stunning crisp evenings?
The stresses of overheating, sweating or your makeup melting are gone, autumn has perfect weather where guests feel comfortable in their attire – especially men wearing suits. It also gives brides the chance to be diverse with their dress, take our Metropolis bride Brooke for example, she opted for spectacular long sleeve dress by Marquise Bridal.
From a photographer’s point of view, hot summer days are the hardest time to get great images, the harsh sun lighting creates shadows and squinting which makes it difficult to capture those long sought-after images. Whereas, cloudy autumn days are the best for taking images, not to mention Melbourne is home to some of the most beautiful autumn leaves in the country, creating the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos. Since they will most likely be the most expensive and valuable images you will ever take… these are things you want to consider.
These fabulous images were captured by the very talented T One Images for Nicholas & Brooke’s picture-perfect day.
Drawing inspiration for your florals from the natural colour palette of your season will really create a memorable setting on your special day. Little Floral Soul provided the awe-inspiring florals for Brooke and Nicholas’s autumn-inspired wedding. A classic minimalist edgy look with reflexed roses, paired with autumnal and earthy dried hues of chocolate pampas, bunny tails and cotton.
Brooke reached out to her florist, Emma, in the first Melbourne lockdown, as they were unable to meet in person, she put all her trust in Emma to create her dream florals, and that she did.
Their reception was nothing but a dream, they truly got to live a real-life fairy tale, in a sea of vibrant colours. It definitely had us second guessing the perfect wedding season.
